Koreatown Los Angeles Guide

Complete guide to Koreatown Los Angeles. The best Korean BBQ, karaoke, spas, late-night spots, and everything to do in LA's most vibrant neighborhood.

Welcome to Koreatown

Koreatown (K-Town) is the heart of Korean culture in America. This densely packed neighborhood west of Downtown LA never sleeps. Korean BBQ restaurants, karaoke bars, spas, and cafés operate 24/7. The energy here is unlike anywhere else in LA. It's authentic, vibrant, and endlessly delicious.

Korean BBQ Guide

Korean BBQ is the main attraction. Parks BBQ — upscale, USDA Prime meats, often called the best in LA. Kang Ho-dong Baekjeong — fun, loud, great for groups. Quarters — hip, modern, excellent cocktails. Hae Jang Chon — 24-hour, all-you-can-eat. Tip: let the staff grill for you, don't flip meat too often, and use the lettuce wraps.

Beyond BBQ

K-Town has incredible non-BBQ Korean food. Sun Nong Dan — bone marrow soup that's worth the wait. BCD Tofu House — 24-hour soon tofu (spicy soft tofu stew). Ham Ji Park — pork bone soup (gamjatang). Kobawoo House — bo ssam (pork belly wraps). Olympic Cheonggukjang — fermented soybean stew for adventurous eaters.

Late Night Culture

K-Town thrives after midnight. Karaoke (noraebang) — private rooms with friends, try Pharaoh Karaoke. Late-night cafés — Sul & Beans for shaved ice (bingsoo). Drinking culture — soju cocktails at Dan Sung Sa (retro 70s Korean bar). Fried chicken — Kyochon or BBQ Chicken until 2am. This is LA's best neighborhood for night owls.

Korean Spas

Wi Spa — the famous 24-hour jjimjilbang (Korean spa), multiple saunas, rooftop. Aroma Spa — more intimate, excellent treatments. Crystal Spa — great value. Spa experience includes: hot/cold pools, steam rooms, body scrubs (highly recommended), and relaxation areas. Tip: it's naked in gender-separated areas.

Getting There & Around

K-Town is centrally located, easily accessible via the Metro B/D Lines (Wilshire/Western, Wilshire/Normandie stations). Street parking is challenging; use lots or valet (many restaurants offer $3-5 valet). Everything is walkable within the neighborhood. Best experienced at night when the neon signs light up.
